Silver Dollar in GIMP, Class 6

10/16 Update:

I remade the silver dollar in GIMP this time drawing the face. I used the pencil tool to draw the face. I couldn't figure out how to erase a line without erasing the background too so when I made a mistake I erased it them painted color back in then smudged it together.

This is the Silver Dollar that I made in GIMP, it was a little harder than doing it in Word. I used a contrast tool to give the circle a metal-like look and used the text tool for the year and IN GOD WE TRUST, and painbrush for LIBERTY. For some reason my paint tool won't let me adjust the brush size so I had to use this large size.

Silver Dollar, Class 6

10/16 Update: Here is the silver dollar in word with the Liberty face added. I used the freeform tool to draw the face, making everything light gray and the line of the crown a darker gray. I used the straight line form to make the crown. I put the drawing on a gray background and added a 3-D feature to look like a coin with a raised edge and some shadow.

Class 5, Assignment 1

This is an image of the Piktochart I made to represent the Immersive Education Initiative programs- the iED k12 Summits. I started with a brief summary of what the summits are about, then I wrote about 3 different keynote speakers from 2012 conferences and their topics. Then I noted where the past conferences have been before talking about some aspects of the latest summit, which was this past June in Boston. I ended with a picture showing the information for the next summit coming up this month, then listed my sources (the immersiveeducation.org website) and a quote from the site.

Midterm #10

This is a picture of the house I made in word. I used a triangle, oval, and various sized rectangles to create the house. I filled the roof in with a wood texture and the face of the house with a brick pattern that I colored two different shades of red. After adding windows, a door with a doorknob, and a sun with my name in it, I played around with the different freestyle shape techniques. I created three different unique shapes that you can see at the bottom of my house, that I drew and used straight lines to make. Below are screenshots of my progress. It is a midterm exercise from the Immersive Education course that I am taking at Boston College. The course is called Discovering Computer Graphics. Midterm #9

This is a picture of the unique course diagram I made. I chose different regular shapes for all the different categories then auto formatted each shape to be a different color. I also changed the lines of the outline of the shapes, making them different colors, dash patterns, and thickness. Below shows my progress and the earlier example I did of practicing making shapes and filling them and their lines in. It is a midterm exercise from the Immersive Education course that I am taking at Boston College. The course is called Discovering Computer Graphics. TEXTURE MAPPING

These three images in the Mesa Cloud Party world clearly have texture mapping. The wall in the first image has a bumpy texture. In the second image you can see the detail of the grain in the wood and the texture of the chair cushion. In the third image you can see the bumpy texture of the ground as well as the texture of the wood of the barn.

The large majority of objects in this world were textured, so it was slightly difficult to find flat objects that were just one solid color. The first one I found was in the house, the candles and jars were each solid white and solid orange (with shadows but still solid color). Then the roof of the house was solid beige. The last picture is the back of a billboard that was just a solid color.
