Midterm #8

Original:

Final:

The bottom picture is a photo of my mother and I at the last BC football game that I edited in GIMP. I chose the photo because I had pretty dark circles under my eyes so I focused on editing those. In the progress shots you can see the close up versions which show the editing much more clearly. First I tried to use the blur tool and it just did not work. I tried clicking on different layers to edit, changing all the settings of the blur tool in the toolbox, and more but nothing worked. So basically I solely used the smudge tool, which worked very well. I smudged the smiled lines leading from my nose to mouth, and I smudged the circles under my eyes. When I smudged the circles it still looked dark, so I added some lighter color to the area with the dodge/burn tool. I then smudged that color in so it looked all blended together. I ended with just smudging my whole forehead to even all the color out. It is a midterm exercise from the Immersive Education course that I am taking at Boston College. The course is called Discovering Computer Graphics. For details, visit the immersive BC portal at http://ImmersiveEducation.org/@/bc
